The First and Seventh rays find easy reception through the cardinal-fire sign characteristics - active, energetic, aggressive and initially spiritual. Both rays deliver the ideal motivation urging the individual forward and through spiritual initiation. By initiation we mean the end result of a series of crises leading to a climactic situation forcing the raising of consciousness, somewhat like a bolt of cosmic fire. Initiation is a cosmic impregnating process forcing the individual, animal, plant or mineral to experience the pain of having to reach within and become greater alone, to become self reliant and effect causation. The First ray is not so sexual, but the Seventh ray is, and it becomes in the individual sense the creative agent of the first initiation when sexual desires are balanced.

Aries is the sign of initiating and generating the fires of life through its rulership over the head. We all know spiritual evolution requires the latent powers at the base of the spine (kundalini) to be uncoiled and sent up the spine through the generating system of the head. Aries give the courage and initiative needed to find the ~I AM~ within, or the ~I AND MY FATHER~ unity. Through the sign of spring, the bursting forth of life into being is achieved as the impregnating processes of all nature comes under its primary domain.

With the First ray expressed through Aries the concentrate power is used for preplanning and readying to take on a role of leadership. Under the dominance of the Seventh ray, power is skilfully expressed, and the individual is a pioneering link for new age instigation. Relationships must be resolved.

Aries under the First ray generates spirituality into his organised purpose. He is an authority and law giver.

Aries under the Seventh ray is the ceremonial priest, or the competitive team member. Aggressive action is toward perfection.

Fifth Ray of Concrete Knowledge/Science
Venus of revelation is the sacred planet

Initiation, or the evolving processes toward that end, comes under the First ray of power. Discipleship, the self committed path towards masterhood, is fostered by both the Fifth ray and fixed signs. Through Sun ruled Leo the mighty First and methodical Fifth rays find the characteristics of the ardent and persistent sheath suitable for focusing their universal expression.

Leo is a sign desirous of recognition, and a power loving sign; the first ray is associated with creative will, the ~will~ energy for executive power. Under the Fifth ray Leo is ambitious and creatively outpouring in its expression. General education and science belong to the Fifth ray which is entirely fruitful (often to the point of violence and destruction out of passion due to its bountiful nature which can overflow to excessiveness). There is a limitless source of understanding under the analytical Fifth. Creativity is woven with common sense. With the impulse being to disseminate knowledge, motivation comes easily through this signs traits.

Fixed, fiery Leo is a confident sign, generous and capable of superior type service, perfect for the resolute first and scientific Fifth. It is interesting that the First and Fifth rays are least sexual, while Leo is the sign of the heart and such affairs, or is it more the sign of ~will~ and the resistance for that side of nature?

Leo under the First ray is willing to create the way, a regal ruler.

Leo under the Fifth ray is the educator, the brilliant and methodical scientist.

Neptune of sensitivity is the sacred planet

The characteristics of mutable fire which stimulates spiritual adaptation is host to no less than three universal ~will~ energies. When we look for the sympathetic or attracting reasons behind the lines of least resistance, we are looking for similarities between the ray and sign. With the Fourth ray and Sagittarius it is goal setting and foresight. Evolution (as a vital link in humanity and its collective discipleship) and balance are tightly meshed. This is the artist’s ray stimulating preparation in advance and the ability to dramatise truth.

Bonding Sagittarius and the Fifth ray of Concrete Knowledge is the aspiration to know and all which that implies. Both the sign and Ray provide the impulse to demonstrate ability. Achievement through the sciences is entirely fruitful and serving the mental nourishment and stimulation of the brow chakra so necessary for discipleship; discipleship is the stage of active purpose are spiritually awakening.

Drawing the Sixth ray to the sign is its urge for reasons of evolution, loyalty and zealousness. However, another reason for the attraction is that the sign has excessive tendencies toward objective goals, even to fanaticism. Christianity comes under the Sixth ray. Sagittarius is a reverent and religious sign. All rays stimulate understanding towards group consciousness; it is natural the sign of comprehension would act as agent for these three outward bound energies. The Fourth ray, though a resting ray, is motivated outwardly.

Sagittarius under the Fourth ray is following the principles of truth and beauty. He is cultural and gifted.

Sagittarius under the Fifth ray is an academic achiever moved by logic and common sense.

Sagittarius under the Sixth ray has a religious sentiment, battles the forces of desire and contributes to the welfare of humanity in a singular way.
